Our Team

Our Team

We hear this all the time..

“We love Feel Better Yoga because of the teachers. They’re just… different.” Our yoga-sharing team is different, in the way we share yoga.

We think you’ll feel it, too. We share from our hearts & convey our true passion & authentic relatability in how much yoga does for us. All of us on our yoga-sharing team are just like you; busy moms & dads, college students, retirees.. people who discovered how much yoga changed (& still changes) our lives, & who now feel deeply fulfilled in sharing this with other people.

Our yoga-sharing team is hands down why people yoga with us & each person on our team is the heart & soul of our studios.

why FBY?
The first moment I walked into FBY, I just knew that it was going to be unlike any other
studio I’ve ever been to. It feels like home. The teachers & the community are so
welcoming. The stories & shares during the practice are always so relatable. It’s just a
reminder that we are all in this together!

what makes you crazy?
Traffic!!

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your
teaching?

I love to feel the passion and authenticity of the instructor during a class. In my own classes I
love to share my passion for yoga, and just be my most authentic self! I’m the type of gal to
realize I forgot a pose and giggle. Nobody’s perfect! Life isn’t meant to be so serious!

give us the 5-second scoop on you:
When I’m not at the studio, I like to do creative things. I can cook and I mess around
occasionally with visual art. I was born and raised in Durham, moved around a bit after,
but now live in Carrboro. I’m the youngest of two and my favorite color is pink. I don’t know what else to add, just a guy doing his best is all.
how has yoga made a difference in your life?
Yoga continues to bring greater order and clarity to my life, and prior to taking my
practice seriously, neither of those qualities felt available to me.

why FBY?

FBY is truly a safe space.
From my first day, I was welcomed with open arms and encouraged to try on everything. To play. To reflect. To see and be seen. I

been one of the best years of my life.
what makes you crazy?
Not doing yoga.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your
teaching?

I look for, and try my best to be, an instructor who is present and attentive. One that allows space for people to play and breathe, and one that also keeps a unique playlist

pose and breathe. Authentic - i will always be me. And really “it’s all good here”!

Hey! I’m Megan. I have 2 super cute boys, Parker and Fisher, my hubby (he’s cute too:) ), Phillip, and a fluffy chocolate labradoodle named Kai. By day, I work in employee wellness in a healthcare system and in my free time we all head to the beach any chance we get.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?
When life gets crazy, when it all piles on, when things go not so right, Yoga reminds me to breathe deep and helps me process life, thoughts, and some days just reminds me to slow down.

why FBY?
I always had a passion for yoga, to know more and grow in it but I would never walk through the doors of a "yoga studio." I always thought only people "who know how to do yoga" go to yoga studios and that wasn’t me. FBY gave me not just yoga but a community, a WARM welcome, and encouragement every step of the way. FBY reminds me that there’s no reason to go at life alone; we’re all dealing with the same ol’; stuff. Breathe, Sweat, Flow, Let it go! :)

what makes you crazy?
When my hubby takes the first bite of my food from my plate!

what qualities do look for in a instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?

give us the 5-second scoop on you
I’m a public health nerd, birth doula, yoga-lover, cat mom, live music fanatic, aunt, daughter, & friend!

how has yoga made a difference in your life?
Since I started becoming truly dedicated to my yoga practice a few years ago, I have noticed huge shifts in my relationship to myself and my body. Yoga has helped me get out of my head and out of my own way, inspiring me to be more confident and grounded on and off the mat. This practice helps me be aware, intentional, grateful, and healthy! I am a better student, researcher, doula, friend, daughter, aunt, and all-around human because of this wonderful practice and I am so lucky to share it with this community!

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?
It’s tough, but dr. dog, big thief, fleetwood mac are always on rotation!

Wildflowers by tom petty takes the cake for all-time favorite song!

why FBY?
When I moved to Chapel Hill, I was looking for a new studio and community. I remember feeling a bit lost post-college. I went into FBY to check it out and was immediately greeted by warm smiles and people who genuinely cared- about me, about yoga, and about other people. I immediately fell in love with the studio, especially the Avett Brothers quote on the wall, and knew that this was a place I felt safe, seen, and at home.

what makes you crazy?
When my schedule gets too booked up- I need time to unwind and rest every day!

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?Trying to connect with all the different people in the room and enjoy this flicker of time we have together through sharing, assists, and an eclectic playlist!

give us the 5 second scoop on you!
Born and raised right here in Burlington. Mom of three kiddos and two crazy dogs. Married to my best friend. Taught elementary school for 20 years before moving over to Elon University a few years ago. Developed a serious yoga obsession when FBY opened and I haven’t looked back since.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?
Yoga has taught me, and continues to teach me, the importance of being truly present for myself and those around me. Opening my heart and showing my true self allows me to really connect to people. And that awesome yoga breath…it calms me and makes me a nicer person.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?
Sorry, can’t choose. I love all music and my playlists range from 80s rock to country to pop to classical. BUT my favorite all time singer/songwriter is the famous Patrick Henry…especially when he is singing to me on our back deck.

why FBY?
It makes me happy. I came to fby for the yoga, but I stayed for the community and the connection to all these awesome humans. Don’t get me wrong, the workout is amazing. But I have met so many cool people and had so many new experiences in the last three years, much of it a direct result of being a yes at fby.

what makes you crazy?
This could be a long list, hahaha. I do have some road rage issues. Turn on your signal people, and get out of my way!

what qualities do you look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?
I want an instructor who empowers and inspires me. I love when an instructor allows for space to create and play on my mat. I also want my butt kicked and I want to sweat! I hope to be able to bring all this to my classes. I want to encourage people to step out of their comfort zones and get messy, because one more thing yoga has taught me is that the magic is in the mess.

what should people new to fby know?
Show up! Don’t put it off, don’t wait until you think the time is right…the time is now. You won’t regret it. Show up for yourself, show up for your loved ones…just show up. I can’t wait to see you there!

give us the 5 second scoop on you.

Mom of four and Abi to the happiest grandbaby on the planet. Married to my soulmate in every sense of the word.

Passionate about reading, writing, and teaching for liberation.
Already planning my next trip.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

Yoga helps me center myself in what matters. It brings me out of all the chaos and nonsense and anxiety in my head and back into a space of calm and choice.

It makes me a better mom, partner, and teacher.

quick - what are fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?

Jill's right--this is an unfair question.

I LOVE good music-- the Avett Brothers, Tori Amos, Jay-Z, Led Zeppelin, Erykah Badu.....there's no telling what's on my playlist but you can be certain the volume is cranked and I'm singing along.

"The Luckiest " by Ben Folds was the first dance at our wedding.

what makes you crazy?

I am a perpetual hand raiser. I volunteer for 9 gazillion things then get all burned out and cranky and overscheduled. See above information about yoga helping me center and prioritize.

what qualities do you look for in a yoga instructor & try to embody in your own teaching?

I want to feel seen, encouraged, and cared for. These qualities drew me to practice at FBY, and it's a vibe I want to help continue to cultivate as our community grows.

A lot of places will tell you you belong--I feel like FBY really walks the walk in that regard.

I want everyone I share yoga with to know that you belong in our space, just as you are, right now. You don't need to fix anything or do anything to be ready to yoga. You just need to show up and breathe.

Brittany is the FBY lead. Come say "hello!" to this warm & super friendly lover of yoga!

5 second scoop on me:

I’m a mom of 2 sweet and beautiful girls. I’ve lived in Alamance county all of my life. I’ve currently lived in Gibsonville for the last 16 years and love our little community. I’m married to my high school sweetheart (Taylor). We’ve been together for about 10-11 years and married for 8 years this year. I have 2 degrees, a Bachelors in Psychology from UNC-CH and an Associates in Early Childhood.

How has yoga made a difference in my life?

I remember being a new mom about 6 years ago and not loving myself. Having all the new mom feels and the guilt that comes with being a mom as well. Not taking any time for myself. I decided to give heated yoga a try and I loved it! I loved the sweat and the 60 minutes it took me to get out of my head and into my body. Yoga has taught me to breathe. Yoga allows me to show up for myself and to take time for myself. Yoga has helped me learn to love myself. I give myself grace and show up as my biggest version of myself because of my yoga practice. Without yoga in my life, I honestly don’t know who I would be.

Why FBY?

I feel like I’m home as soon as I walk in these doors! I feel the love from everyone when I’m here. I feel like it’s ok to show up however I need to be that day, whether I’m rolling in like a hot mess or I’ve got it together. No matter how I show up, I know that I feel accepted because of this community and the love from everyone at FBY.

Quick- what are your top 3 fave bands/ musicians and all time fave song?

Honestly it’s ever changing. But currently
I love Bishop Briggs, Machine Gun Kelly, and Sam Smith! All musicians.
My current fav song that is on repeat these days is “At my best” by Machine Gun Kelly ft. Hailee Steinfield

What makes you crazy?

I’m not sure I could pick one thing but it would have to be, unorganization and not having a plan. That drives me insane! I have to take a lot of deep breathes sometimes.

What qualities do you look for in a yoga instructor and try to embody in your own teaching?

I love a yoga instructor that is friendly and open to sharing. It allows others to see the real and authentic version of the instructor, I feel that is so key in creating a relationship with a class. I also love an instructor that offers the chance to play in the class. This allows for time to have fun in your practice and also in your life!

give us the 5-second scoop on you:
Just started as a medical student at UNC! Grew up in Florida, so I am very new to the
gorgeous Chapel Hill area. I love good music, quality time with loved ones, anything that
smells good (candle, incense, perfume fanatic), and cooking. I am passionate about
helping others discover what lights up their lives.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

I can’t think of one aspect of my life that hasn’t been significantly altered by yoga. When
I began to practice seriously a few years ago, yoga became a lifestyle. My yoga practice
serves as a much-needed constant reminder to reconnect to myself and what matters
most to me. Yoga makes me a better sister, partner, daughter, student, etc!!

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?

This is hard I literally love so many different artists and genres.
I think if I had to pick 3:
John Mayer
Bon Iver
Penny and Sparrow
All time fave song: Landslide by Fleetwood Mac always gets me out of a funk

why FBY?

When I moved to NC, I was in search of a yoga studio that felt like the studio I went to in
Miami where I first fell in love with yoga. I tried a few studios and had no luck. Then, I
took my first class at FBY and my search was over. You truly feel better after leaving
FBY. It is such a supportive, uplifting, creative atmosphere.

what makes you crazy?

Not having some sort of schedule or organization. I need routine and structure.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your
teaching?

Creativity, challenge, play, and ease. I love teachers that guide in a way that lets you
discover yourself and patterns by direct experience in your body.
I try to share unique movements that feel good in my body while also offering up
variations to account for the individuality of every body.

give us the 5-second scoop on you

Outside of yoga I am a social worker, lover of books, and adventures!! I graduated from Elon in 2020 and have called Burlington home ever since. I hate cooking but love enjoying food. I am a lover of learning and trying new things!

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

Yoga has made all the difference! Yoga has helped me connect deeper with myself which has allowed it to be easier for me to connect with others.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?

This really could change day by day and hour by hours. Right now I am really into Facesoul, Pitbull, and my newest artist obsession is Dominique Fils-Aime. My all time fave song is When I See You by Fantasia.

why FBY?

FBY has become my home away from home! The FBY community has become the family that is always there to celebrate my highs and support me in my lows. it truly is one of my favorite places to be <3

what makes you crazy?

Loud chewing!

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?

Authenticity, warmth, safety, and support. I try to embody this by showing up as I am in the moment and being open to share myself with others. I am very intentional about creating a space where, I hope, people feel safe enough to feel all the feelings and explore all the things knowing that I’m there for them every step of the way.

give us the 5-second scoop on you:

I am a transplant to Graham, North Carolina. I graduated
from Elon College in 2000; yes, it was just a college back when I graduated and I was a Fighting
Christian. In 2011, I earned a graduate degree from the University of North Carolina in Literacy
Education. I am someone who rarely sits still since I am a wife, a mom of two boys and a high
school teacher. Jamie and I have been married 18 years and we met while teaching at a
private Catholic School outside of Washington, DC. In 2006, we moved to North Carolina with a
baby and no jobs to Gibsonville and the rest is history. As a family, we enjoy glamping, biking,
paddle boarding, and traveling. Jamie and I also enjoy going to country concerts whenever we
can! My boys are 17 and 12 and both very active in cross country and track. We have a
Goldendoodle named Stella, a bunny named Peter & two chickens. Honestly, there is rarely
a dull moment in our house. My favorite place is the beach where I can sit and watch my boys
enjoy the water and read. I love reading in my spare time, but I don’t read many books that
have literary value. My favorite genre is romance. I have been practicing yoga for the last five
years at Feel Better, and I plan to continue to teach yoga once I retire from teaching.
how has yoga made a difference in your life?

I am a very fast paced human who is always on
the go & rarely sits. I started going to yoga to slow down and take time for myself. I never
went to power; I only went to slow flow, deep stretch & recharge classes because that is
where I needed the most work. At the beginning, these classes were so hard and a huge
struggle for me, but now I love them because I know it is what my mind and body need. After
five years, I have a good balance between stretching and power classes.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?

This is a super challenging question. My
husband and I love going to country concerts. My all time favorite band is Old Dominion; we
have seen them in concert four times and look forward to the next time we have the opportunity
to see them. In general, I like most types of music except rap. I try to create playlists in my
classes that include music for everyone.
why FBY?
FBY is a community where we look out for one another. I love that FBY is a
community of people who are loving and accepting of everyone. I wouldn’t want to yoga
anywhere else.
what makes you crazy?

There are so many things that make me crazy, but yoga has taught me
when things/people are making me crazy, to go to my breath. I would say this is a work in
progress & something I will have to continue to work on. I am a person with a lot of “rules” but
the older I get the more relaxed I am becoming.
what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your
teaching?

When you come to one of my classes I can promise it will never be like a previous
class because I speak from the heart & never hold back with what comes to my mind. I love
to share honest & real stories that are happening in my life.

give us the 5-second scoop on you

Although I was born on Long Island, NY, most of my life has been spent in North Carolina. I graduated from Bucknell University with a degree in History and Sociology. Austin, Texas was home while I earned a degree in nursing from UT-Austin. After several years working in Obstetrics, I found my true calling as a school nurse and I have never looked back.

I love spending time with my family, especially my grandson. On Saturday afternoons in the fall you will find me watching college football- a passion I inherited from my Dad. Most people don’t know that I have a third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, but that’s another story.

how has yoga made a difference in your life? Yoga has helped me become more self aware. I face challenges as they come up by responding rather than reacting to them. Breath work is the key and yoga has taught me the power that my breath has in changing outcomes for myself and those around me.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?

My music taste is pretty eclectic. Nat King Cole’s Unforgettable has always been one of my favorites, but I also love Steely Dan- Reelin in the Years.

Bob James- jazz musician who wrote the theme for the sitcom Taxi- now I am dating myself.

Petite Biscuit, a new favorite, thanks to a good friend at FBY.

why FBY? From the first moment I walked into FBY more that 5 years ago I felt welcomed, seen, and supported. No matter how I am feeling or what my day has looked like, walking into the studio I find peace, comfort, and a space that I can be truly me.

what makes you crazy? Getting all situated in bed at night, about to fall asleep, and suddenly not being able to remember if I actually set the alarm or not.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?

An instructors passion shines through in their class. They give you opportunities to grow and challenge yourself and at the same time the space to take what you need. I appreciate an instructor who can make me smile and even laugh during class. When this happens I remember not take myself so seriously, I am relaxed and my best self.
I tend to always see the glass as half full, finding gratitude for the little everyday things, and I want that to come across in my classes. I want my students to feel supported. A quote from Theodore Roosevelt sums up my thoughts best, “Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care.”

give us the 5-second scoop on you:
I am a mom to three kids, proud social worker, advocate for health and social justice,
avid reader, lover of yoga, and all things floral. I was born in South Africa and grew up in
California, spent time in Washington D.C. and Boston, and now call Chapel Hill home.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

I started doing yoga in college and then more seriously while studying abroad in Nepal.
This was one of the most self-reflective, independent, joyful experiences of my life.
Yoga made me feel grounded, but with school, work, marriage, kids... I stopped
prioritizing yoga when I needed it the most. FBY has renewed my sense of connection
and joy. Now, precisely because of a full, messy, beautiful, busy life, yoga has helped
me be a better version of myself, especially off my mat.

Fave bands & all time fave song:

This is hard! It depends on my mood, I like old and new: Tom Petty and the
Heartbreakers, Queen, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Vampire Weekend, Brandi Carlile. I
love the music at FBY, it’s so eclectic and brings such good energy to every class.
All time fav song (easy!)... “Don’t stop me now” by Queen.

why FBY?

FBY is one of the best gems of Chapel Hill! I love everything about FBY: The studio is so beautiful, the people are down to earth,
the light, the plants, the art, the quotes, the practice is so FUN... it’s inviting and
welcoming. You really do feel better (wayyy better) when you leave.

what makes you crazy?
Indecision! I like to make a decision and move forward to the next thing (this is precisely
why I need yoga, to learn to sit with things and slow down). I don’t like chipped nail
polish or the sound of someone cracking their knuckles.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your
teaching?
I want my yoga instructors to be real and to approach teaching in a way that welcomes
EVERYONE. Students in class should feel like there is something to gain every time
they show up. Regardless of whether you are a seasoned yogi or brand new, young old,
flexible, or not, I like teachers who find ways to make everyone feel welcomed and that
their time and effort to be at yoga is well-spent and valued.

Im a dog mom of one and love to be outside with her! I’m and avid reader and always looking for some food recommendations. I love hiking, swimming, and now sharing yoga!

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

Yoga has brought so much love and understanding back to myself and I think everyone should find that thing that makes them excited to get up and go!

why FBY?
It is such a fun and welcoming group. I can’t believe how much i’ve grown since i’ve started coming to this studio and i’m so excited to share yoga and grow even more.

what makes you crazy?
A good playlist really gets me feeling like i’m ready for the class! I’m excited to create some that hopefully make people feel the same!

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?

I look for someone with a calming presence but also knows how to get energetic! I think I have a natural calm demeanor which helps people relax around me and I think that’s perfect for a yoga class!

give us the 5-second scoop on you
Alamance County native, history enthusiast, sunshine seeker, wanna be traveler, a big
fan of cooking without a recipe (and somehow making it work).

how has yoga made a difference in your life?
Yoga has helped me be present, not only on my mat, but in my everyday life. It has
taught me to slow down, BREATHE, and celebrate the big and small victories.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?
Ugh, how can I possibly pick?! My music taste is all over the place, but I always come
back to anything by Dolly Parton, The Chicks, or Post Malone. All time fave - “What a
Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong.

why FBY?
FBY was the first studio that made me feel like my yoga practice could be my own. I am
able to be playful, messy, fall, and move to my own beat without feeling judged.

what makes you crazy?
Slow walking, literally anywhere and everywhere. I should probably work on this and
take some tips on how to slow down. But I’m a woman on a mission!

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?
I look for an instructor that is present, passionate, and pushes me to grow in my practice.
Someone whose energy is contagious, is down-to-earth, and makes me feel seen in the studio. I
try to bring the same energy to my classes, ensuring that everyone feels welcome and has the
space to simply be themselves.

give us the 5-second scoop on you
Hi friends! I am a graduate student at UNC training to be a therapist. I love puzzles, walks, the color blue,
coloring, a good playlist, sneakers, and all things yoga. I have been a vegetarian for 12 years and I love cooking
and going out to eat. I am a born and raised North Carolinian and I love to visit my parents in Charlotte or my
brother in Nashville. The mountains are my favorite part of NC and I love spending time there with family and
friends.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?
Yoga has helped shape me into the person I strive to be. Yoga has challenged me physically, mentally, and
emotionally and I see yoga and breathwork show up both on and off my mat. Going through teacher training was
extremely pivotal as a college student trying to navigate the real world and it allowed me to solidify my goals
and values. I hope to continue yoga for the rest of my life and will forever be grateful for this practice!

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?
I *LOVE* music! I think music makes yoga feel alive and I love crafting playlists for my classes. My music taste varies all the time but some of my all-time favorites are: Noah Kahan, Adele, Hozier, Still Woozy, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, and Briston Maroney (I couldn’t just pick 1!)
All time fav song is so hard but I would probably have to say Hometown Glory by Adele! It reminds me of my childhood and singing with my parents.

why FBY?
I love everything about fby! the energy, the physical space, the plants, the people, the safety.
FBY was actually the first yoga studio I ever tried, and it is what made me fall in love with the practice. I had tried yoga before and never liked it, but FBY got me hooked on the physical practice, the sweat, and the incredible sense of community. FBY became my second home during COVID as I ditched the traditional gym and wanted a way to get exercise and meditation into my daily life. I completed my 200 RYT training here during COVID and
knew that I needed to be a part of this wonderful team and share my love for yoga with others. After teaching in Burlington for 2 years and graduating from Elon, I migrated over to the CH location as I am a grad student at
UNC! I am so glad I never had to leave this community 

what makes you crazy?
Big messes, clothes on the ground, long stoplights, and dirty dishes.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your
teaching?
I look for teachers that incorporate "play" and challenge into their practice. Challenge might be trying a new pose or transition, or a challenge might be letting yourself stay in child's pose for half of class.
I love teachers who offer up funky poses or refreshing new sequences that keep me on my toes. I hope I am able to allow my students to try new things, fall out of a pose, laugh, and try again. Yoga is all about the practice and how it makes you feel, not all about getting it "right" or "perfect". I hope my students can see that and cherish their growth in a fun and playful way in my classes.

Hey there!

I’m Molly, mom of two all grown-up really awesome humans, Bella & Sawyer, & I am (slooowly) learning to navigate this new & exciting chapter in life. I love reading (former high school English teacher here), traveling, planning travel, the beach & all things water, denim on denim, a good dance party, potluck porch gatherings, pizza, fire-pit chats, road trips & chasing sunsets. Nothing beats spending time with friends & family.

I like a challenge & currently have waaaay too many wonky coffee cups because I’m still working on the art of a good cylinder in pottery class & I’m a 5 year beginner-level Spanish student–help! You’ll find me on a trail in the woods most mornings, cup of coffee in hand, with my husband Steve & our sweet pups Obi and Cooper.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

Where do I start?!? Practicing yoga has made me a better mom, friend, partner, daughter, sister, coworker, human… Because of yoga I’m more grounded, present, intentional & grateful… And when I’m not doing a very good job at any of that (because life!), yoga reminds me I can show up just as I am & begin again. Yoga makes ALL the difference!

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song

I love sooooo many bands & music genres but some of my all time fave songs include…Soulshine, Dancing Queen, Salvation Song,The Wood Song, She Used to Be Mine & every song in every Taylor Swift era. But gosh, I can’t leave out Alabama Shakes, Jack Johnson, Prince, every single Motown artist & every song from Wicked & Hamilton & then there’s Van Morrison & the Stones & Brandi Carlile & just go ahead & throw in some yacht rock too…

why FBY?

The heat, the instructors, the wall quotes, the heat! But seriously, FBY is a warm & welcoming community of people of all ages & stages in life & has continued showing up for me in this same way for almost 9 years now! And did I mention I love the heat? Each class is an opportunity for an awesome workout & a chance to get out of my head & get present in my body--I tell everyone it's a workout, spa treatment & therapy session all in one!

Just put your grocery cart back, please & thank you I feel like this is a good metaphor for how to do life.

what qualities do you look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching? I appreciate how encouraging, genuine & fully present our FBY instructors are. A teacher whose powerful cues make me feel safe & who challenges me to dig a little deeper while trusting myself, & of course, a great playlist make for a pretty awesome yoga experience.

Give us the 5-second scoop on you:
Just a girl from California who loves her dog, yoga, nature, and all things mystical.

How has yoga made a difference in your life?
Yoga is everything to me. It grounds me, lifts me up, moves emotion through me—it’s the single most powerful tool I’ve found in my life. I’m a better human because of it, and I’m so deeply grateful I found this path.

Top 3 favorite bands/musicians & all-time favorite song?
Don’t make me choose just one song! I’m all over the place with music and have a go-to song for every mood! I have childhood favorite bands like The Killers and Fall Out Boy & newer loves like Rainbow Kitten Surprise and Labrinth… As a girl from the 2000s, I definitely have a soft spot for Taylor Swift too!

Why FBY?
I’ve practiced a lot of yoga in many different places since 2016—but I’ve never felt the sense of community that I feel at FBY. When a space truly supports, loves, and nourishes its people… that’s magic. And you feel it in every class at FBY!!

What makes you crazy?
Being indoors too long, too much computer time, and my phone in general—instant chaos!

What qualities do you look for in an instructor, and how do you embody them in your teaching?
I love classes that challenge me and make me sweat—but I also want to feel a real connection with the instructor. That’s what makes FBY so special—we’re trained and encouraged to share our authentic selves, and you can feel that in every class. That’s how I strive to show up when I teach, too!

give us the 5-second scoop on you

Hey y’all! I’m a 19-year-old Alamance County native and a student at UNC Chapel Hill,

studying to become an elementary school teacher and eventually an administrator. I love

spending time with my family, friends, and my three dogs. You can usually find me doing

anything active, shopping, traveling, watching sports, going to concerts, enjoying the outdoors,

and spending long days on the boat with my fam! I’ll never say no to a sweet treat, game nights,

spontaneous adventures, or any good sitcom!!!

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

Yoga shows up in so many areas of my life and makes me feel better mentally, emotionally,

AND physically. Practicing helps me feel stronger, empowered, and more motivated to be

productive in all aspects of my life. My practice grounds me and has transformed not only how I

act and respond but also how I choose what energy to bring to each moment—whether that’s

gratitude, love, compassion, or something else.

Having gone through YTT as a freshman in college, yoga quickly became an essential practice

that brings lightness, joy, and peace to my daily life, making me a better human!

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?

This is HARD because I love music so much! Some of my favorites are definitely Zach Bryan,

Taylor Swift, Noah Kahan, Morgan Wallen, John Summit, Corey Kent, Riley Green, 1D, Adele,

Post Malone, Rihanna — and honestly, the list could go on forever! I’m into country, EDM, and

literally a little bit of everything!!

why FBY?

I still remember my very first class at FBY — I went in feeling nervous, anxious, and

intimidated. But I quickly discovered that the instructors and fellow yogis are incrediblywelcoming. The energy and culture at FBY are truly rooted in warmth (both figuratively and

literally!) and support. It’s honestly the BEST place to practice, play, and find a community.

what makes you crazy?

Not having time to decompress, people who don’t show empathy, and that feeling of not being in

control — of anything, lol

I can be super go-with-the-flow, but not having a plan? That can totally make me crazy.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your

teaching?

I love to laugh, be silly, and remind myself not to take things too seriously all the time. That’s

why I really appreciate instructors who are down-to-earth and super personable during class. I

want an instructor who inspires and empowers me to move my body and mind in ways that truly

serve me. I want to have fun and leave class feeling better than when I walked in. That’s exactly

what I hope to bring to my own classes — creating a space where people feel encouraged to

show up for themselves, know they are enough just as they are on and off their mat, and have a

great time along the way!

give us the 5-second scoop on you

I am a retired Family Nurse Practitioner and now work as a fabric artist, yoga teacher, and care for my elderly parents. I am a mom of 2 fabulous young adult kids, who both live out West. I love to cook, garden, swim, ski, hike and knit. And when I am not at home, I may be traveling with my husband in our 16 foot Airstream Trailer, exploring another part of the world.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

I was first introduced to yoga in my 20s and over the years, yoga has been an essential part of my health and exercise routine. Yoga has helped me through different phases of life, while preventing and healing from injuries, and learning a mindfulness practice. Now, yoga supports my joints, keeps me strong, balanced, and grounded in the present.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?

I love lots of different music….my favorite bands are Avett Brothers, Cake, Grateful Dead, Jack Johnson, John Prine, Bonnie Raitt.

Song: Angel from Montgomery- Bonnie Raitt

why FBY?

I found FBY while searching for a heated studio, and I stayed for the incredible community. There is a warm and welcoming vibe that is palpable when entering the studio that creates a very open and inviting community.

what makes you crazy?

Unkind and inconsiderate people make me very crazy. I also get a little crazy if I don’t get enough time in the day moving my body and being in nature.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?

I like an instructor who is open hearted, honest, and not perfect; as well as someone who encourages me in my current practice and offers instruction for improvement. And I really love a good playlist. I hope I can create an environment of openness and acceptance, while encouraging every practicing student ways to deepen their own yoga practice.

give us the 5-second scoop on you

I’ve lived in North Carolina my whole life and have always liked the Chapel Hill area. I bring passion into everything I do, especially my creative pursuits. I love to try new recipes and experiment with different types of art. My undergraduate degree from NC State is in Creative Writing, and it’s a dream of mine to get my books and essays published. I enjoy traveling the world with my husband (so far we’ve been to Japan, France, and Italy together with a long list of places to go next!) and spending time outside when I’m not reading, writing, painting, or experimenting in the kitchen.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

I’ve had yoga in my life since my teenage years because my mom has been a yoga teacher for 15+ years. I taught yoga and other formats of group fitness in college and fell in love with sharing my passion for fitness with my students. I found FBY in the midst of a journey to find grounding and care for myself during a stressful time. Through FBY, I found more love, peace, and community than I ever could have imagined. Reconnecting with my yoga practice has opened my heart and mind to deeper love, compassion, and connection in all aspects of my life.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?

My top 3 artists/bands of the moment are The Mountain Goats, Bob Dylan, and Phosphorescent. The song I have on repeat lately is “Song for Zula” by Phosphorescent. I’m always searching for new artists to fall in love with and new songs to add to my playlists so it would be very difficult to pick a favorite song of all time!

why FBY?

I felt so at home when I started practicing at this studio! FBY has become a space where I feel that I can show up as my most authentic self. Every time I come to FBY, there is so much warmth, love, and gratitude in the space. I’ve made many amazing friends through this community, and I’m excited each time I come to a class.

what makes you crazy?

Lack of authenticity. I’m a big believer in honesty because the truth is such a powerful and beautiful force.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?

I appreciate when an instructor brings open energy into their classes and truly shares themselves through the yoga they offer. I would like to believe that I unashamedly live my truth with vulnerability in every aspect of my personal and professional life, and I look forward to sharing it with my students.

give us the 5-second scoop on you

Hey!!! I am Stephanie

I am from Long Island,New York born and raised.I love the beach! I have loved to sing since I was a teeny tiny one! I am big on family and making memories. I believe positive attitudes are contagious and love to spread love. I love to be active but can’t stress enough the importance of slowing down to find your inner peace. When I am not sharing yoga.. I am a makeup artist and a mom of 3 and a wife of 1 (hehe) . I love exploring new food places but definitely coffee shops are my guilty pleasure!!

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

My love for yoga started before I had my 3 kiddos.

Yoga has helped me come alive. My practice has opened my eyes to the ideas I have had about myself and helped me trust myself and step into my power. I have found a deeper connection to the person I am and want to become. It has allowed me to be a better mom and wife. Yoga shows me that if you just breathe and trust everything will fall into place. Letting go has helped me accept that there are some things you can’t control.Listening to others has helped me listen to my heart and learn how to set boundaries in my life.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?

WOW!! That is a big ask for me.. Here goes nothing!!

Anything that has soul, a message and a beat makes me come alive!

Christina Aquilara (I did grow up in the 90’s!)

[Dave Mathews Band & Zac Brown Band.]

Favorite song of all time:

“This is me” The Greatest Showman

I love all the versions!! The words are powerful*

This was hard! But we can do hard things!!

why FBY?

After moving here 3 years ago. Burlington studio became my home away from home. The energy of the people. The truth in the words they speak. The friendships I have created and the ability to create my own safety in my flow. So many different people finding comfort in knowing they are not alone. I always loved yoga. Feel Better has made me find peace in knowing I am enough just as I am.

what makes you crazy?
Passive aggressive behavior!

(Just speak your mind)

Not being honest.

Judgemental behavior. Be kind!

Not having an openmind.

I hate the words “I can’t”

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?

I love organic authentic personality.

I want to feel the truth in your energy.

Feeling safe is key at FBY!

My teaching style will lead with positivity and kindness. Lots of laughter!!! Because laughing is good for the soul. Plenty of space to take what you need and listen to your body. Mind Body connection! I want to have fun with you!! Let’s play and celebrate the day! Now turn up the music baby!

give us the 5-second scoop on you
Hi, I'm Ava! I am an Elon student who is passionate about learning, music, the outdoors,
and being with the people who make me feel loved. When I am not in the studio you can
find me studying, working out, sleeping, and most of all out and about with my friends.

How has yoga made a difference in your life?
Yoga has provided me with a space to heal, to grow, and to feel at peace. It remains a
constant in my life and continues to shed light as I navigate this journey.

Top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave songs?
One of my favorite things is constructing playlists. I like a little bit of everything, but if I
had to choose a few I would go with Odesza, Tate Mcrae, Noah Kahan, Mac Miller, and
the Lumineers. All time favorite song would have to be Stubborn Love by the Lumineers!

Why FBY?
FBY has become a home away from home. Moving across the country for school left me
feeling alone in this unknown area. The studio provided me with a space where I felt safe,
valued, and seen.

What makes you crazy?
People who make you feel wrong for doing the things that you love!

What qualities do you look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?
Energy is everything. I like when my instructor feels present, supportive, and positive. When I
am in the studio I try to radiate only energy that makes others feel good. I value trying new
things, showing up as your truest self, taking what you need, and enjoying the present. Good
music and good vibes take priority in my classes!

give us the 5-second scoop on you

Originally from the Chicago area, after graduating from the University of Tennessee, I

moved to Charlotte for a job. I have been teaching yoga in a studio setting for three

years now and have loved every second of it. When I’m not sharing yoga, you can find

me baking sourdough, travelling, painting, or spending time at home (I’m a total

homebody!).

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

Yoga has made a difference in my life in so many ways. It’s the only form of movement

that meets me where I’m at on any given day. I always know if I need more, I can push

myself further, or if I need less, I can choose a more restorative practice. Yoga has

forced me to slow down, connect my mind to my body, and get out of a constant state of

fight or flight. I want everyone to experience the joys and benefits of yoga!

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all-time fave song?

The 1975, Fleetwood Mac, and Valley (but I have to say there’s a big place in my heart

for oldies)

My all-time favorite song is It's Not Living If It’s Not With You by the 1975!

why FBY?

When I heard about Feel Better Yoga coming to Charlotte, I knew I had to be a part of it!

As a marketer by day, I tend to be drawn to businesses with a strong mission and

connection to their values. I love how Feel Better is so in tune with its brand purpose

and encourages its yoga instructors and customers to live out the Feel Better ‘way’ on

and off the mat every day!

what makes you crazy?

Being late!!! I love being early everywhere I go, and if I’m late (especially for unforeseen

circumstances), it drives me crazy! It’s weird because it only bothers me when I’m late,

not when others are. I’m not sure why I can’t give myself the same level of grace I give

everyone else! Something I’m always working on in my personal life for sure.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your

teaching?

I love a yoga instructor who feels like an old friend. Also when instructors have a more

conversational tone that doesn’t seem scripted. I feel like it takes the pressure out of the

class and makes everyone feel more welcome! I try to embody these characteristics in

my classes by being myself, sharing personal anecdotes, and making sure everyone

feels like they know me as a person, not just their yoga instructor!

5-second scoop
I’m a fun-loving, future-creating badass who believes love is the best thing in the world. I adore my
husband and our dogs, and I’m happiest in the woods. I'm a huge fan of good food, good music, good
company, and life lived from the heart.

How has yoga made a difference in your life?
Yoga has helped me feel less stressed and more at home in my body. I’m less reactive, more present,
and better able to listen — to myself and to others. Through practice, I’ve learned to breathe intentionally,
forgive more freely, and tap into a sense of vitality that makes me feel physically, mentally, and
emotionally capable, stable, and alive.

Top 3 favorite bands/musicians & all-time favorite song
John Coltrane, Dinosaur Jr., Grateful Dead
Loving Cup — Recorded: Rolling Stones, Live: Phish
Bonus — my favorite DJs: Flavour Trip

Why FBY?
I love the community-forward experience, the respect and love I feel from everyone, all the happy humans
— and the cushy floors!

What makes you crazy?
When I see dirty floors or spend too much time away from my mat, I feel hazy-crazy!

What qualities do you look for in an instructor, and how do you embody them in your teaching?
I’m drawn to instructors who are present, engaged, and teaching beyond the poses. I show up fully and
share with joy, using movement as a way to reconnect people to their bodies, their power, and the
possibility of creating something new.

give us the 5-second scoop on you

Chicago-born. Evanston-raised, North Carolinian at heart. Elon University Alum! I love finding new places to walk + chat, coffee shops, and places to explore in and around North Carolina. On the weekends, you’ll find me practicing yoga, spending time with my husband, friends & family, or hanging with my dog, Mac McIntosh.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?
Yoga has taught me the balance between self-discipline and self-grace.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?
Forever changing but as I sit and write this – my top three artists would be Earth, Wind & Fire, Kendrick Lamar and Smino.

Favorite song of all time – “Runnin” by Smino

why FBY?

FBY has given me the confidence and opportunity to share something so special to me, with others. Nothing beats the community that is created here! I feel so inspired in this space to share, create, and continue to become the best version of myself.

what makes you crazy?
Poor sleep, back pain, messes!

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?
I look for an instructor who can create an environment that feels safe enough to try new things. I also love an awesome playlist. What’s most important to me is feeling comfortable and motivated.

give us the 5-second scoop on you
Hey hey, I’m Jill — your Zen Mama! I’m an E-RYT® 500 and YACEP, and I’m all about making yoga feel good and accessible. I’ve got a background in using yoga to help with chronic pain and physical therapy recovery, but my classes are anything but clinical. Think: movement that feels good, moments that make you laugh, and always a dreamy savasana to wrap it all up. Can’t wait to see you on the mat and move, breathe, and maybe giggle a little together.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?
Yoga didn’t just change my life—it kind of saved it. It gave me clarity, peace, and a way out of habits that weren’t serving me anymore. That calm I found on the mat felt better than anything I was hiding behind before. Over time, I started showing up differently—for my practice, my
people, and myself. Yoga keeps me grounded and reminds me every day that change is always possible, and that how I treat myself sets the tone for everything else.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?
Okay, here’s the thing—I can’t ever pick just three. My favorites are constantly changing with
the vibe of the day. I love a mix of punk energy, reggae rhythm, classic rock soul, and indie
weirdness. Basically, if it makes you feel something, I’m in.
It might be something like this
👉 My Spotify Playlist 🎧

why FBY?
Because FBY gets it.
Feeling good is where all real growth starts, and this crew truly lives that out loud. It’s not just a studio—it’s a space full of genuine humans who want to help you feel better, move better, and live better. We’re all about support, authenticity, and having fun while we work on ourselves.
Basically, it’s yoga for real life.

what makes you crazy?
Ha—honestly, nothing anymore. Or maybe everything for like five seconds... then I breathe and move on.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?
I love teachers who make space for you to just be you—who guide without overdoing it and create an atmosphere that feels safe, kind, and human. That’s exactly what I try to bring to my classes. My goal is to hold space that’s open, encouraging, and real. I show up prepared but also ready to grow right alongside everyone else. It’s not about perfection—it’s about presence, curiosity, and maybe a few laughs along the way.

give us the 5-second scoop on you
Hi, I’m Luca. Yoga keeps me grounded and reminds me to slow down — a nice balance to my busy manufacturing world. When I’m not on the mat, you’ll probably find me riding my motorcycle, traveling with my wife Jill, hanging out with our two teenage daughters, or diving
under the waves on a scuba adventure.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?
Yoga has been part of my life for about ten years, and it’s made a huge difference in my overall well-being. It’s helped me find balance, reclaim my power, and reconnect with my body. It teaches me to stay when things get hard, to find my center to withstand the storm.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?
Radiohead, Rebelution, Florence and the machine
“Quelli che benpensano” - Frankie hi-nrg mc 1998

why FBY?
Because of the cushy floors and the community. FBY it’s home. It’s a place where everyone feels welcome and supported from the moment they walk in. It is not just a yoga studio to get fit, it is a place to cry and laugh, to feel seen and cared for. It’s a place for growth.

what makes you crazy?
In the best way, it’s helping people grow — creating space for them to move, breathe, and reconnect with themselves. I love sharing what I’ve learned through my own journey and seeing others find a little more balance, strength, and inspiration in theirs.
What makes me crazy in the not-so-good way is when ego takes over — when people use power or aggression instead of compassion. Yoga reminds me to come back to balance, to lead with kindness, and to lift others up rather than trying to stand above them.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?
The quality I look for the most in an instructor is personal sharing, how open they are, how present they are in class. That’s also what I strive to bring to my own classes. I always prepare for the class reflecting on where I am in life today, my struggles, the lessons learned, the study
of self. I also like a well thought flow where transitions flow well. I like anything that shows care for the student and I do my best it shows in the way I approach teaching.

5 second scoop:
I live in Chapel Hill with my husband, and we have two teenagers — a son at UNC and a daughter in high school — with whom we enjoy spending time (though the feeling may not always be mutual). You’ll often find me taking a walk in the Carolina North Forest, reading a
good book, practicing pranayama, or preparing to host a dinner party for friends and family.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?
Practicing yoga consistently for years has helped me to better control my nervous system, to react less, to observe my thoughts with less judgment, to listen more attentively to my body, to develop both strength & flexibility, and to help heal a stubborn shoulder injury.

top 3 bands // all time favorite song:
Of course, it changes, but today I’m going with blur/Gorillaz, belle & sebastian, and Beulah.

Favorite song (with the same caveat):
He Got Game by Public Enemy.

why fby?
FBY is a warm and welcoming studio, which is evident from the moment you walk in and see the gorgeous greenery, feel the cozy heat, and notice the lack of mirrors. I love the variety of classes offered -- Power Vinyasa, Recharge, Deep Stretch, Yin, and Weights (no separate gym visits needed!) -- and the sense of community at FBY.

what drives you crazy?
incompetence & unkindness

what qualities do you look for in a teacher and how do you embody them in your teaching?
My favorite teachers are those who create intelligent sequences, innovate new flows regularly, give thoughtful & useful alignment cues, know how to read a room, and are warm & welcoming to every student. I endeavor to embody these qualities with thorough preparation for every class, continued study of alignment principles, maintaining a regular yoga practice myself, and practicing the principles of loving kindness.

give us the 5-second scoop on you:
I was born in New Orleans & moved to Charlotte in 1986. Fun fact: I’ve performed on every professional stage in Charlotte. I love sparkles, color, disco balls, shoes, & a red lip. Cozy couch days excite me as much as a day on the town, a weekend getaway, or an epic trip! The stars call me Leo Queen, my tribe calls me Dancin Queen. I am partner to Hudson, Mama to Amelia Jean (13) & Beatrice Jade, our 5 yr old Boxer Babe. I am a Movement Maven. For 20+ years I’ve moved through many creative endeavors in dance, yoga, & intuitive movement from performer, artist, choreographer, curator, coach, to teacher, educator, & facilitator. I just received my Apprentice Gyrotonic Movement Expansion System certification. I thrive on deep connection, passion, & heart forward action. I love, LOVE, adventure, words, a good cry, & lots of laughter. I believe movement is medicine, in being an original disruptor to keep life spicy and grounded, & ‘letting go’ is one of the greatest lessons I was meant to learn in this lifetime.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?
Yoga was the first movement practice that fully awakened my physical voice. It empowers my inner/higher listening & quiets my below the line mind. Yoga releases my concern for looking good & unleashes a childlike wonder, joy, play, & curiosity of myself & the world. It enables me to show up 100% for myself, so I can show up 100% for others.

I believe there is possibility in everything! However, just 3 is impossible 🤪 Short answer: literally anything that makes me wanna move my Body! 🪩💃🏻

why FBY?
I am new to FBY & my excitement to be here is drawn by the community centered value of belonging and being seen. These two values are personal values that are a reflection of heart forward action I bring to all I do! I am excited & grateful for the opportunity to integrate, contribute, & share yoga at FBY!

what makes you crazy?
What makes me crazy is my crazy love for life, falling in love, dancing, my people, music, & seeing the beauty in the (sometimes ugly) truth. What drives me crazy is small talk. Saying sorry when sorry is not needed. Also, Don’t ask me how I am if you don’t really want to know how my heart is 🤣 and if you are here for it, I most likely will cry. #notsorry #crazyrawlove

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?
The qualities I admire in my teachers & strive to embody always is personal uniqueness, full self expression, truth, & unconditional love. It comes in so many forms, & in yoga it can look like: essential language, gold nuggets of wisdom, vulnerability in personal shares, a call to action, passion, getting comfortable in the discomfort together, & seeing winnable gaps. At the root of it all is being seen & seeing what’s present here & now. Meeting ourselves & each other where we are in the moment. Holding space for what shows up, & being true to one’s self, with love at the core. 💖

Give us the 5 second scoop on you!
My name is Kate, and I’m an outgoing, fun, type A-ish late-twenties Charlotte transplant. Outside of practicing yoga, training, and my full-time marketing job, I love to travel, spend time with friends, and cook. I’d probably win the prize for living closest to the studio, but I’ll never win any awards for being the most quiet, soft-spoken girl in the back of the room.

How has (does) yoga made a difference in your life?
The practice of yoga has been a catalyst for more intentionality and introspection that I originally thought possible. It has been a launching pad for incorporating movement into my adult life, it has helped me ascertain what I want in my life, and it has allowed me to key into body sensations and fine-tune my intuition.

Top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?
Billy Joel, Caamp, and Hozier. All over the map! My all-time fave song changes too often, but I love sappy songs that hit me right in the feels and songs that everyone just seems to know the words to so we can all sing along.

Why Feel Better Yoga?
Feel Better’s belief that focusing on the inputs yields the right kind of outputs creates the perfect environment for my growth. A good yoga community is a powerful, life-giving element of my routine. Being surrounded by folks who are committed to rolling out their mats here in the practice of wellness and of something bigger than themselves is as encouraging as it is humbling.

What makes you crazy?
Thank you for asking, but I like to think I’m crazy enough without needing any extra push. But actually, passive behavior and clutter.

What qualities do you look for in a yoga-sharer & how do you personally embody the qualities in your yoga-sharing?
I don’t want to learn from a “perfect” yoga teacher. I want to experience someone real, candid and present. I strive to share what I’m actually working through and learning alongside my equally human students.

give us the 5-second scoop on you
Hi! I am a sister, daughter, and lover of yoga! I am a fan of beautiful things: like art,
music, poetry, dance, singing…. all the expressions of the human experience, really. <3

how has yoga made a difference in your life?
I used to say yoga healed me thrice… but after so many years, I find it has been there
for me too many times to count! Yoga helps me heal, process, play, grow, ground, and
connect with my inner self. Yoga is my expression of love.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?
1) Glass Animals, 2) Rainbow Kitten Surprise, and 3) Still Woozy, (  There are too
many good bands!!).
My favorite song is probably “Junk Food Chimney” by Ezra Bell, but honesty it changes
every year.

why FBY?
I find that FBY “snuck up” on me and wormed its way into my heart. The shares, the
authenticity, the intentional movement… FBY has become my “yoga home” that my
heart keeps going back to!

what makes you crazy?
I would love to say “nothing”, but honestly… I have found if I do not ground myself
through intentional movement like yoga, or nature walks, I can become stir-crazy. <3

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?
I care. We all do! It is important to me that a yoga-sharer is present with their students. I think
it is important that your practice is safe, authentic, and fun! My goal as a guide is to give you
the space to show up as YOU are. Whether you are happy, sad, flexible, stiff, tired, new or
advanced… It doesn't matter. 😊

5-Second Scoop:
Howdy, I’m Matt! Raised on fluffy biscuits and southern rock in Macon, GA, I began my North Carolina chapter in 2020 as a student at Elon University. The Burlington FBY studio became a fortress of peace during some of the busiest years of my life, and my love for yoga grew from zero to one hundred. I moved to Charlotte after graduation and have called South End home ever since — being a 5-minute walk from the new FBY studio is a luxury I never anticipated!

Some of my most notable titles include: graphic designer, therapist friend, coffee addict, brand manager, travel nerd, home chef, author (check out my cookbook on Amazon!), animal lover, AMC A-Lister, the Oxford comma's #1 fan, and now... yoga sharer!

You can usually find me hosting game nights at my apartment, curating a new Spotify playlist, trying a new restaurant for my weekly Beli rankings, or hanging out with my four-legged son, Finn. <3

How has yoga made a difference in your life:
In any season of life, yoga can always be my support system. It gives me the space to unwind, check in, explore, and block out the noise. No matter what kind of day I'm having, I always feel better after a yoga class. It often feels like the only thing in my life that is 100% for me, allowing me to leave all my worries and stresses at the studio door and just BE.

Top 3 bands/musicians & fav song:
Three is too hard, so here's my top five (in no particular order): Mt. Joy, LÉON, Olivia Dean, Hozier, and Maggie Rogers.

My favorite song is Love You For A Long Time by Maggie Rogers.

I listen to all kinds of music all the time (proud member of the Spotify Wrapped 100k club), so come to one of my classes to hear what's on the current rotation!

Why FBY?
FBY has a cosmic energy that transcends any other studio I've ever been to. You could say it's the cushy floors, the quotes on the walls, and all the little things curated to make you “feel better,” but I think there's something so special about this place beyond the amenities. The moment I walk through the front door, there's a total reality shift. It feels like stepping into a little yogi oasis — a place for camaraderie with this amazing community where everything goes from feeling urgent and chaotic to, “actually... that can wait."

What makes me crazy?
Bad cold brew. Crumbs on the counter. Drivers who don’t use their turn signals.

What do I look for in yoga-sharing and how do I embody those qualities?
I love feeling like I truly get to know the sharer through their class — discovering their music taste from a (hopefully) rockin' playlist, relating to their stories, and seeing their personality shine through their flow. I'm always a big fan of new/funky transitions, poses, or class “themes” that keep things feeling fresh, and I appreciate being encouraged to go a little off-script and explore what feels good in my body.

I hope anyone who comes to my class has that same experience. My goal is to create a space that feels warm, welcoming, and judgment-free. Above all else, I want my classes to be FUN!! I believe big smiles and good tunes are medicine for the soul. :)

Hi everyone! I’m originally from Burlington and graduated from Appalachian State
University in 2024. I currently work in field marketing for different drink brands. I also
love creating content and running social media pages! I have a chocolate Lab named
Whiskey, and he makes life so fun.

how has yoga made a difference in your life?
Yoga has changed my life in so many ways. I did competitive cheerleading for nine
years, so I’ve always stayed pretty active, and finding my way to yoga has been such a
great outlet for me.

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?
I’m a country music girl all the way! Some of my favorite artists are Cody Johnson, Luke
Combs, Ella Langley, and of course Reba McEntire. Lately I’ve also been on a kick
listening to Noah Kahan, Olivia Dean, and SZA.

why FBY?
From the first time I came to FBY, I just knew it was different. The way everyone makes
you feel seen without judgment and how honest the yoga sharers are. FBY feels like
such a safe place to come practice something I love.

what makes you crazy?
When things around me are messy and unorganized.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your
teaching?
I love yoga teachers who aren’t afraid to mess up and don’t feel the need to always get
it right. Teachers who have strength and presence without talking down to students. I try
to embody that by showing up with confidence while moving through practice with
grace.

Give us the 5-second scoop on you.

I'm a serious, black & white numbers person by day and a playful, colorful yogi at heart. I love helping people find strength, curiosity, and a little more ease—on and off the mat. When I'm not practicing yoga, you'll usually find me running some calculations or scenarios for fun, golfing with my dreamboat husband, working in the garden, hanging with my dogs, or dreaming up my next travel adventure.

How has yoga made a difference in your life?

Yoga helped me heal after the loss of my mom. It taught me to be present with myself instead of constantly trying to change myself. It has helped me build strength, patience, resilience, and a deeper trust in my body. More than the poses, yoga has gives me tools to navigate everyday life with a little more awareness, a little more compassion, and a lot more perspective. It reminds me that progress doesn't have to be perfect—and sometimes the biggest breakthroughs happen when we stop forcing them.

Top 3 favorite bands/musicians & all-time favorite song

This is tough. I listen by feeling. If it makes my shoulders drop, my breath slow, my body grove or my heart sing, it's the right song.

I love Billy Joel. I love a good cover song and as a recovering PK often find myself humming old hymns. Depends on the day.

All-time favorite song: Vienna, Billy Joel

Why FBY?

Simple, I feel seen without being stared at. FBY feels like home, a place where people are welcomed exactly as they are, whether it's their first class or their thousandth. There’s something for everyone. It's the kind of environment where everyone can challenge themselves while still feeling supported.

What makes you crazy?

One Uppers, diagonal street crossing, excuses, closed minds, (And snakes... definitely snakes.)

What qualities do you look for in an instructor, and how do you embody them in your teaching?

The instructors who truly share themselves and their practice. They create space for students to explore without judgment, offer encouragement without pressure, and make everyone feel like they belong.

That's the experience I hope to create in every class. I want students to leave feeling stronger than when they walked in—not just physically, but mentally too. My goal is to offer thoughtful guidance, practical alignment cues, and a little humor along the way, while encouraging each person to listen to their own body and practice in a way that feels right for them.

Here’s the scoop! I’m studying to be an Epidemiologist by day and a silly, loving yogi by night! I am the type of person to stop someone on the street to pet their dog, and I love to cook, bake, and travel! I moved to Chapel Hill last year after attending Appalachian State University (roll neers), and I absolutely love love love FBY!

how has yoga made a difference in your life?

Yoga has helped ground me in moments where having a consistent work/life balance can feel difficult. My mind can get pretty crowded with to-do lists, worries about tomorrow, and other anxieties, but yoga has allowed me to be a witness to these thoughts and utilize my breath to not let my anxiety be all-consuming. In my practice, I have found that yoga has made me more confident in who I am as a human and more present in my everyday life. Yoga has also brought me an amazing community of loving, compassionate people, and I am excited to share all of the things I love about yoga with all of you!

top 3 fave bands/musicians & all time fave song?

This is such a tough question! My music taste is extremely diverse, but I do tend to listen to a lot of alt-indie/alt-rock music! My top three artists (and fav songs of theirs) are:

Tame Impala (Fav song: Is it true)
Jungle (Fav song: Problemz)
Remi Wolf (Fav song: Soup)

Honorable mention  I am a HUGE Lauryn Hill fan, and I think The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is one of the best albums of all time.

My favorite song of all time has to be Drew Barrymore by SZA!

why FBY?

Feel Better Yoga has been a safe space for me since I moved to the area. This studio and the people in it are extremely welcoming, and I am beyond thankful for how kind and generous everyone has been since I joined the studio. Feel Better has given me a space to express my fullest self without fear of judgement!

what makes you crazy?

I seem not to be able to own any clothing without staining it! It drives me nuts, but I still somehow stain everything without noticing it. Pasta sauce, toothpaste, oil.. you name it… It’s probably on a shirt, and I have no idea.

what qualities do look for in an instructor and how do you embody them in your teaching?

I love instructors who make their students feel genuinely seen during a yoga class. I spend so much of my day hiding, hunched over a computer or a phone, and my yoga practice is my hour where I allow myself to be fully seen in my expression. When a teacher connects with their students and acknowledges their presence, I think it is incredibly empowering. As a yoga sharer, I strive to ensure that every person who walks into my class feels a sense of purpose walking into the studio and an even brighter sense of grounding presence and empowerment when they exit FBY’s doors. Yoga is more than just the movement; it’s about processing the peaks and valleys of life through the movement and through the breath. I hope that I can give people a safe space to be fully seen in their expression on the mat, and that they can take some of what they learn about themselves on the mat into the real world.
